We’ve all heard of AI, the involvement of Artificial Intelligence in life is no subtle thing anymore, but instead a worldwide phenomenon.
AI in 2026 has significant involvement in people’s lives. It impacts work, school, and business and trade, but because of this big impact, schools have disallowed the involvement of AI in student work. AI is quite noticeably easy to use, easy to control, and achieve easy results. This has notably impacted the workforce too, not only are schools being affected, but employment as well. Jobs have significantly seen an increase in AI involvement such as video games, business, technology development, art, and much more.
The first example of AI is commonly seen in recent video games, actually, every single video game ever has at least one AI or NPC (Non Playable Character). Although, you might’ve guessed that, NPCs in video games were the first notable example of AI in daily life. Although they don’t physically exist in the real world, they still impact our enjoyment of video game entertainment. According to Everyday Examples and Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), it reports that “Of course, many games also utilize AI in their development to continually increase interest and incentives for users to keep playing.” In other words, AI in video games captures our attention by having “incentives” for the player to keep gaming.
However, AI in the real world may not be as fruitful as their intentions like video games. Reported in the article, The Future of Artificial Intelligence & How It Affects Everyday Life, “As AI technology improves, it will change even more areas of our lives.” Some AI used in the real world have been reported to be in music, arts, marketing, and much more.
When asked if AI has an impact on their life, Daniel Krienbrink, a Spotify music artist said, “AI overall impacts my life negatively. Seeing people uploading music to spotify using AI and being able to make tons of money is annoying. Seeing AI take up valuable resources is annoying. It’s ruining art and it’s ruining the environment. It also kinda depends on what kind of AI though, because it can be useful for education and study if we’re not talking about generative AI or chat bots or any of that.” Braylen Block, a senior at Horizon High School, had a similar statement, noting that for those seeing their artwork be used by or seen as AI is horrible.
How Americans View AI and Its Impact on People and Society reports that “50% say they’re more concerned than excited about the increased use of AI in daily life, up from 37% in 2021.” Another interview confirms this fear of AI their fears and concern of AI spreading information aligns to the data reported early, “Generative AI sucks. It’s fun to see absurdist videos thanks to AI. I’ve even made a couple myself, but it’s not regulated enough. It’s easy to make real people in AI videos and it’ll get better in the future and further to be used to trick people. AI bots aren’t quite as terrible yet still spread misinformation indirectly and use up tons of resources.” Roman Peralta, 12th grader of Horizon.
Overall opinion of AI is negative, for these reasons, AI turns hard work into a joke, turns skill into a passive role, and is able to easily profit from little effort. However, AI can be used for good. Like more passive roles like organizing, quick facts, and nothing that takes an amount of skill and self expression. However, AI should never be allowed to replicate others’ hard work.
