Do you like looking out at the moon? Do you like the color pink? If you do then be ready for April’s pink full moon on Thursday, April 23, 2024. The moon will reach its brightest point at 7:49 pm Eastern Time.
Back in the olden days, Native Tribes created a lot of things we use today, such as calendars. The largest tribe in the Algonquian Tribe, Ojibwe named the full moons so they can keep track of the changing seasons. This is how the name “pink” moon came to be from this very tribe.
April’s pink full moon is believed to correlate with the early springtime blooms. A specific wildflower with a beautiful color blooms during this time of the year. The flower is called Phlox subulate, also known as “moss pink”. During early spring, the flower is blue, purple, pink, or white. This flower is native to Eastern North America in the sandy soil and rocky ledges.
Although the moon won’t actually be pink, it will still be an alluring sky to gaze at!
