Writing A Book At Seventeen

Writing A Book At Seventeen

If you’re close to me personally, then you would know that I am writing a book. I have been writing this book since I was 10 years old because my mom loved writing and she would always write down her feelings and life in books. She started writing more when she got diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, which was what took her life. She always wanted her story published, so I decided that was going to be my goal in life. I was going to finish her story for her and write mine as well.

I’ve been writing in journals ever since I learned to write as a way for me to understand my own emotions. With all my writings, I then put them into a story and that’s how I’ve been writing my story. I still have a long way to go but I have all of my ideas written down and ready to put together. Trying to find a way to write everyday and edit as well has been rough because I have such a busy schedule which makes it more difficult to write my book, but when I have my ideas, I will write for hours.

You may think that you’ve written a lot, but when you’re looking at how many pages you need for the chapter it sure stresses you out. Especially when you have ‘writer’s block’, it’s the worst thing for me. I feel that I’ve written all I could, but looking at the pages I’ve only written 2 pages worth. I need at least 7-12 pages for each chapter of my book. The book has a very different vision than other books I have read. I want this book to be very unique and have a different format than other books. I am hoping once I publish this book that I can get it published into Spanish as well.

All in all, writing this book has been stressful, but I am making so much progress. The more I read it, the more I get emotional knowing that everything that has happened in my life including secrets and things people don’t know is in this book. I understand that some people will be hurt about the things said in this book, but honestly I don’t care because this is my story. I will be getting legal documentation for people to sign to have their name in my story as well as a copy of their story in my book so they can decide if they want their name in it. Either way, their story will stay in the book whether it’s a fake name or not. I want my book to be truthful, and I want to help people who feel they are alone in similar situations. I want to make a change and I hope this book will do that for me.
