Did you know that the month of November has a specific moon phase called Beaver Moon? I knew of the other moon called the Blood Moon but I never heard of the Beaver Moon until a few weeks ago. As a young adult, I have never heard anyone my age talk about this significant event which I think we should be more educated about. 

What is the Beaver Moon? 

The Beaver Moon is the first full moon that occurs in the month of November. The moon will reach its highest point in the early morning of November 27, 2023, at 4:16 a.m. EST. This time of year is when beavers begin to take shelter in their lodges, having all the food they have collected stored up. 

Why is it called the Beaver Moon? 

It’s called the Beaver Moon by the early Native American tribes and American colonists, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. This is when the beavers begin to shelter for the long winter ahead. As the beavers gather all their food and supply their lodges with everything they need, they begin to sleep for the rest of the winter. The Beavers go into hibernation.
