With my birthday month being April, I am lucky to have all the major music festivals also be taking place that month. Along with that, my 18th birthday is the 13th of April, and this is a year that many people make worth celebrating. It’s the big 18! The year you finally become an adult! Personally, I have been waiting for my 18th birthday for a long time, even though I still have a few months to go. Although, it’s never too early to start planning. This year, I am so grateful to be gifted with the opportunity to choose between going to two of the biggest music festivals, Coachella or Stagecoach. My amazing family friends gave me the choice to go to the famous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, or the major country music festival Stagecoach. This is a major decision, and I have to decide between two huge music festivals I’ve always wanted to experience.

Ever since I was little I’ve always dreamed of going to Coachella. I would watch Youtube videos of the influencers sharing their experiences, outfits, and favorite music artists. I love music and the therapy it provides for so many people. Coachella creates a big event where so many different genres and groups of people come together and have a good time. Although, throughout the years, the culture around Coachella has changed significantly. The music element of Coachella has become downplayed and it has turned into more of a “fashion show”. While I do love fashion and creating cool outfits, I personally believe it shouldn’t be the main part of Coachella. There is a level of comfort most people, including myself, would want to maintain, along with looking cute. But, you also have to remember it is a desert where the festival takes place, and being comfortable is a priority for me to be able to enjoy the festival. Overall, going to Coachella has always been a dream of mine, and it is a difficult decision to make.

With that, there is also Stagecoach, a huge country music festival. Now, I have never been a big fan of country music till about 3 years ago, but I have entered my “country girl era” and listen to it all the time. With doing some research on TikTok, Stagecoach seems right up my alley. But it is only country based, and after viewing the setlist, I realized I don’t know many of the people performing, but there is one performer that really stood out. Morgan Wallen is headlining, and it would be a dream come true to see him. With his rise to fame recently, who wouldn’t want to see him perform at one of the biggest events in country music? This made my decision extremely hard. Another reason being how much easier picking out outfits would be, when all you need are some boots and a hat.

Now comes the decision. After late nights on TikTok scrolling through people’s experience of both events, I had to come to a decision. I love country music. It is calming, but can also be hype, and the lyrics that are created are indescribable. I’ve been really wanting to go to Nashville to get a taste of the “country” lifestyle, and I thought Stagecoach was the perfect opportunity for this. Although, when I think of younger me, always hoping and praying that one day I will get to experience Coachella, I have to choose that. Coachella is iconic in every way. The performers have always been phenomenal and getting to experience that would be a real life dream come true. So here I come, Coachella 2024!
