As the school year comes to an end, many high school students are looking forward to a relaxing and exciting summer break. From vacations to sports training, students are planning to make the most of their time away from school.
For sophomore Lacey Burdine, summer is all about spending time with family and friends. “I’m going to Florida with my cousins for a week, and I also want to hang out with my friends a lot before school starts again,” Burdine said. Along with traveling, she plans to get a summer job at a local ice cream shop to save money for the future. “I want to start saving up for a car,” she added.
Junior Garrett Wilson has a much busier schedule ahead. As a varsity baseball player, Wilson will spend most of his summer training and traveling for tournaments. “I have baseball practice almost every day, and we travel to different states for games,” Wilson explained. He hopes the hard work will help him improve his skills before next season and prepare him for college opportunities. “It’s tiring sometimes, but I love the sport, so it’s worth it,” he said.
Even though students have different plans, many are excited to take a break from homework and early mornings. Summer gives students a chance to relax, spend time with loved ones, and focus on hobbies or future goals.
Whether it’s traveling, working, or competing in sports, high school students are ready to make this summer memorable before returning to class in the fall.
