My Senior Year in a Nutshell

They say when you get to your senior year, that it flies by and the next thing you know, you are walking the stage. I didn’t realize this was true until graduation was less than 10 days away. I never thought I would make it to graduation but here I am. This year flew by faster than any other year. But I am going to break it down.

The year started out with applying to college. It was the most stressed I have ever been. It was so scary to know that one of these colleges would determine my future. I applied to almost 25 colleges. I wanted options so when it came to decide, I didn’t have any regrets. I was planning on going to college in Florida. More specifically, FSU and UF. These are the top schools in Florida and it was everything I wanted. Well what I thought I wanted…

Long story short, I am committed to Louisiana State University (LSU) and will be studying criminology in the fall. My current career goal is to become an FBI agent. However, I have a strong passion for football. I plan on taking some broadcasting classes to dip my toes in the water. I want to see if pursuing a career in broadcasting is something I want to do. Another dream of mine is to be an NFL reporter. I am excited to see where I end up.

Senior year was quite fun. It was the first year of freedom and fun. It was the first year that I felt like I belonged at Horizon. I found my ground and was thriving. I learned a lot of lessons but also experienced many great things. I am forever grateful for all of the memories that Horizon gave me. I never thought I would say this but I am sad to leave high school. You never know what you had at the moment until it is gone. I will miss football games, basketball games, prom, and lunch hours with friends. I will miss it all. I wish I didn’t focus on growing up so much but instead enjoyed being a teenager.

One of the best parts of my senior year was being one of the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper. Writing has been one of my passions since I was little. I have been in Journalism for the past three years at Horizon. It has been my favorite class. I am so grateful to have such an amazing teacher Ms. de Paz. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your editor-in-chief. I will miss journalism. Signing out!
