June 26th was the celebration of the Avs winning the Stanley Cup

 

June 26, 2022 was the celebration of the Avalanche winning the Stanley Cup! There were an estimated 500,000 fans that packed Downtown Denver. Fans were ecstatic because it has been 21 years since the last championship. Let’s take a look at how it went. 

If you aren’t a die hard hockey fan no worries! The Avalanche were originally the Quebec Nordiques starting in 1979. Then, the Nordiques moved to Colorado becoming the Avs in 1995. 

After winning the Stanley Cup, Denver prepared for the celebratory parade.The parade began at Union Station at 10am. The team was riding on top of firetrucks parading around the streets of Denver. Moreover, the Stanley Cup Trophy made its highly anticipated appearance in the first fire truck. Around 1pm the team made its appearance at the Civic Center. This was the main event in which the team made their speeches. 

On the other side of the celebration, fans were going crazy. The hype music put everyone in a good mood. There was an immense amount of dancing, chanting, and singing in the sea of people. The vibes were amazing in Denver! And they sure were contagious. 

Finally, the players made their grand entrance individually. Star players such as Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon, Erik Johnson, and Darcy Kuemper made their speeches. Additionally, coaches, workers, and more of the Avalanche team said their thank you’s. 

It was an amazing experience for Denver! The Avalanche have a fantastic fan base to support them. Denver definitely showed up and will continue as the new season begins. Go Avs!
