After waiting for a little over a year for the Book of Boba Fett it finally started streaming on Disney+ on December 29, 2021. Star Wars fans were exhilarated to see this new show and how the events in it would transpire. Hopefully in one of the seven episodes we will catch a glimpse of some fan favorite characters.

To start for those who are unaware of who Boba Fett is, he is a Mandalorian Bounty Hunter who first made an appearance in the Star Wars Holiday Special which was released in 1978. Since then, however, he has made an appearance in The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars 2008 TV show, and the Mandalorian to name a few. He was last seen, in canon, in the Mandalorian after escaping from the sarlacc pit he fell into during Return of the Jedi.

Another character you should be familiar with is Fennec Shand who is a bounty hunter/assassin. Her first appearance was in the Mandalorian season one episode six, “The Gunslinger,” but since then she has shown up in the Bad Batch as well as season 2 of the Mandalorian. She is a ruthless killer as well as hunter who has a knack for tracking down children as seen in the Bad Batch and the Mandalorian.

Chapter 1

The first episode of the book of Boba Fett was definitely an amazing beginning to the show. In the episode we have a chance to see what Jabba the Hutt’s palace has become. We see Boba Fett has definitely cleaned the place up a bit and has also been filtering through some of Jabba’s, and then later his successor Bib Fortuna’s, staff. We see some Gamorean Guards which are first seen in Return of the Jedi.

In the episode we also see Boba’s escape from the sarlacc pit that he fell into during. In the sarlacc’s stomach we also see a Stormtrooper which, as you probably know, were the soldiers that the empire used to maintain order. For those wondering how Boba ended up in the stomach of a sarlacc this happened in Return of the Jedi when Han Solo broke his jet pack and he went flying and fell into the monster’s gaping mouth.

After his escape from the sarlacc Boba is found by the Tusken raiders. These people were first seen in A New Hope but make an appearance in The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and the Mandalorian. In the show they capture Boba Fett and drag him to their camp. Here we also see a couple of dog-like creatures called massiffs. These creatures are extremely good hunters and we see them owned by Tusken Raiders and even some clones in the clone wars use them.

The final thing of this episode that really stands out is the callback to Attack of the Clones. There is a scene in Boba’s memory where he experiences the memory where he holds Jango’s helmet after the battle of Geonosis. This was a callback to the original scene in Attack of the Clones after Jango’s head is chopped off by Mace Windu and Boba picks up the helmet and holds it close to his head.

Chapter 2

The next episode of the Book of Boba Fett was a wonderful continuation to the first. It also had some amazing cameos but more on that later. First there is more Boba on Kamino. In the scene it shows a young Boba Fett waking up to the sound of his father’s ship leaving late into the night. This carries the implication that Jango Fett would leave in the middle of the night which, as we see, definitely stuck with Boba.

Now for the amazing cameos. The first is the species called the Pykes. They are most known for their appearance in the Clone Wars TV show and this is actually the first time we are seeing them live action. The Pykes are spice- drug -dealers who live on the planet Oba Diah. They are well known for their spice trade across the galaxy. We see in the Book of Boba Fett, and also in the clone wars, they tend to enjoy making deals and operating on other planets therefore extending their drug empire’s reach. They are definitely very feared in the Star Wars galaxy but it was interesting to see Boba Fett stand up to them from one feared party to another.

The other cameo that was jaw dropping was the wookie by the name of Black Krrsantan. He is a wookie gladiator who was a champion in gladiator fights and became legendary in the star wars galaxy. He then later became a Bounty Hunter and was almost as famous as Boba Fett himself. He was first introduced to the Star Wars fans in 2015 in the Darth Vader comic and has since then enjoyed a decent amount of action. Because of his appearance and actions he has been nicknamed “dark-side Chewbacca” by the Star Wars fandom.

Chapter 3

Episode three unfortunately didn’t really offer us anything super new. We did get a chance to see the Pykes a little more however which was very fascinating. Along with that we got a very sad scene with the Tusken Raiders and Boba Fett as they were killed by a biker gang that was sponsored by the Pike Syndicate.

In this episode we were also introduced to a group of new characters. Although none of them were given names they are a group of reckless teenagers who swap some of their body parts with droid parts to be more powerful. They also just so happen to ride motorcycles that are all different colors of the rainbow therefore earning them the title of Star Wars Power Rangers or the Power Ranger Biker Gang. This has led to several complaints from fans but are overall rather amusing.

The final big thing in this episode was actually, physically, big. Boba Fett was gifted a new rancor from the Hutt twins that tried to have him assassinated twice so far. The Rancor is definitely a fine addition to Boba’s new title and position as Jabba the Hutt also owned a rancor and it was part of the reason people respected him so much. Now, hopefully, with his new rancor, people will start respecting Boba Fett more instead of trying to kill him as well as refusing to listen to him.

Chapter 4

The fourth episode was definitely the strongest episode so far. This one had the most interesting story and definitely received the least amount of backlash from fans.

In the episode we get the pleasure of seeing where the Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett line up. We get to see Boba’s perspective on certain parts of the gunslinger and we can now see Boba’s side of the story. This episode shows the flashback of when Boba Fett and Fennec met as well as teamed up with one another. It was definitely very interesting to think about the fact that while Boba was walking around Mando and his counterpart were trying to capture Fennec Shand and also knowing Boba saw them fighting her. It was certainly an encouragement to go back and watch that episode. Another thing with Fennec being rescued is we were able to see the exact scene that was displayed in the ending of the Mandalorian episode “the gunslinger”. It was definitely a nice nod in the direction of Mandalorian.

Speaking of nodding towards the Mandalorian there was something that happened at the end of the episode that caught all the views off guard. Fennec mentions to Boba that they can buy muscles if they know where to look and as soon as she finished saying that the Mandalorian’s theme played. This has definitely led fans into believing that we will be seeing Din Djarin very shortly in the Book of Boba Fett which will be interesting to see what he started doing after Grogu went with Luke.

Well, we are halfway through the first season of the Mandalorian and it just keeps getting better and better. It will be interesting to see which direction that show gets taken to and see where Boba Fett is going to go on his adventure. As I mentioned we still have half a season left and until the show is finished may the force be with you.
