On March 30th Disney+ added something that had several Star Wars fans from the 80s shocked and delighted. Disney added several different vintage Star Wars shows and movies. The span of when these were originally released are anywhere between 1978-2003. Many fans are glad that these can be introduced to a whole new generation. And boy, are they something.

Caravan of Courage

This is the first one that is seen when you go to where the vintage star wars stuff is. This was released in 1984 and chronologically took place before Return of the Jedi. In this movie it has a family of four who have their ship crash on the moon of Endor. Unfortunately, the two children find themselves separated from their parents. The parents were taken by these creatures called Gorax. In this movie the kids have to convince the Ewoks that they discovered in assisting them with saving their parents.

Ewoks: The Battle for Endor

This movie is a sequel to Caravan of Courage. In this movie it focuses on one child from the first Ewok adventure, Cindel. Cindel has to help the Ewoks retrieve a power supply that was stolen by marauders. The marauders believed that this power supply was magical and were in no hurry to hand it over to the Ewoks.

The Faithful Wookiee

In 1978 the Star Wars Holiday Special was released and inside the film Chewbacca’s son watched a small cartoon that was called The Faithful Wookiee. It is an animated short film with Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3P0. In this film it has all the original actors as the voice actors. This chronologically takes place before the Empire Strikes back and this is also when Boba Fett, the infamous bounty hunter, was introduced. For the day the animation was wonderful but compared to what we have now it’s not the best.

Ewoks

The second to last thing on there was a show about the species the Ewoks. It is two seasons of adventures that the ewoks have. It includes the character, Wicket, who shows up in Star Wars Return of the Jedi. There was never a time that was said that this movie took place but it can probably be assumed that it also takes place before Return of the Jedi. A quick way to sum up the vibe of the show is it’s almost like if the care bears met star wars.

The Clone Wars (2003)

In 2003 the original clone wars was released which was perfect as it came out between the release of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Many fans, both old and new, were very excited to be able to watch. This was the original clone wars and it has several similarities between the current one. In this we get to see Anakin Skywalker’s transfer from padawan to Jedi Knight. We also get to see him interact with Padme and his master. It was also where several characters were introduced. It introduces us better to Commander Cody as well as Ventress, Dooku’s apprentice. We also get some excellent banter between Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi. However this is no longer canon and we have the more recent Clone Wars with Ventress, Ahsoka, and Captain Rex.

It is so exciting to have all this vintage stuff to watch and enjoy and a new generation was introduced to this content that our parents were able to enjoy. It was so great that was Disney+ added this old star wars content and it is definitely worth watching. May the force be with you.
