The Horizon boys’ cross country team made history on Thursday when they unexpectedly not only made it to the state meet, but won the regional championship! This was the first time in school history that the cross country team has won regionals!

The boys team finished in first place with an outstanding average time of 17:55 and 22 total points! Fossil Ridge High School trailed in a close second. This win was what made history for our Hawks!

Not only did the boys team do great, but the girls also had an excellent performance! The girls team moved up one spot from where they were seeded, beating Poudre High School, to finish sixth in the region. Not bad Hawks!

A highlight-worthy moment was when the team’s coach, Forrest Vaughan, delivered this fantastic news to them and there was instant joy and excitement!

The state meet is this Saturday, October 17th. Be there to support the boys cross country team to give them a shot at placing. To see how the boys do at state, look out for another article about the cross country season as a whole.
