There are those who fear what lingers in the dark. Could it be a giant spider, or a man eating dog, or the girl that shows up every time you turn off your lights? You never know. What would happen if you could take all that worry away by concealing your sight with a blindfold?

Netflix’s new hit movie Birdbox earned itself a 64% on Rotten Tomatoes  and a 6.7/10 on IMBD. Though the movie didn’t rank to be a movie of the year, it still had a lot of influence behind today’s society. For example, a new challenge has blindly made its appearance in the world, that being, the ‘Birdbox Challenge’.

The movie revolves around a character that is trapped in a future society where a pandemic of mass suicide breaks out around the world due to an unknown force that preys on other people’s fears, driving them to a point of suicide. When the movie first starts out, the audience is able to see Malorie, played by Sandra Bullock, talking to two children, played by actors Vivien Lyra Blair and Julian Edwards, telling them not to take off the blindfolds or there is a good chance that they will die. Malorie Hayes figures out a way to survive the pandemic by blindfolding herself so she doesn’t end up seeing this mysterious force that turns people to suicide. Birdbox leads the audience through a world of twist and turns as Malorie struggles to survive, both on her own and in a group.
