The Denver Broncos are the most popular team in the state of Colorado, and as someone whose family has had season tickets for a very long time I have been to the good games and of course the bad ones (which were more common in recent history). But a certain few have a distinctive place in my memory as some of the best games I have witnessed.
Number 4. Broncos 41 Browns 32 December 2nd, 2024
The game that inspired me to make this list, the Broncos game vs the Browns this past Monday had it all, high scoring, clutch defensive moments, and an exciting finish. Going in to it I thought it could be boring but I was quickly proven wrong following each team scoring a touchdown on their second drive of the game, and from there the excitement overflowed with Bo Nix throwing a 93 yard touchdown pass and Nick Bonito getting a pick six which is now the second one I have witnessed this year. The Browns kept it close but the moment that put this game on this list has to be the game sealing pick 6 by Ja’Quan McMillian which sent Empower Field at Mile High into a frenzy and cemented its place on this list.
Number 3. Broncos 16 Texans 9 September 18th, 2022
In reality this game has no reason at all to be on this list as it is one of the lowest scoring games I have ever attended. Along with the low scoring was the lack of action as these teams combined for a total of 10 punts and only one touchdown. But it earns its place in this list because of the excitement behind Russel Wilson (if only we know then) as when he came out of the tunnel during player introductions. It was the loudest I had ever heard Empower Field cheer for any player and that was exciting which earns it its place on the list.
Number 2. Broncos 38 Lions 10 December 12th, 2021
Emotions were running high in Broncos Country on this day as it was the first Bronco game since the tragic death of legendary wide receiver Demarius Thomas. The Broncos had a beautiful tribute video that they played before the game and his number painted on the field. The game started with the Broncos only having 10 men on the field in honor of Thomas, and the tributes didn’t end there as following his interception safety Justin Simmons ran over and put the ball on the 88 that had been painted on the side of the field. All in all it was a beautiful day honoring an amazing player.
Number 1. Broncos 21 Vikings 20 November 19th, 2023
The number 1 game on this list for a valid reason this game was one of the most exciting games I had ever been too and had a legendary finnish. Going in, the Broncos were hot and had won 3 in a row and were looking to get to 500. The Broncos took an early 3 to nothing lead but the Vikings pounced back and took the lead before halftime. Then the game picked up with the Broncos having to score on their final drive, running back Samaje Perine helping them get down to the redzone. Russel Willson threw a ball up to Courtland Sutton for a game winning touchdown in the most exciting moment I have ever seen live. The Broncos defense then held off the Vikings on their last drive ending my favorite game I have ever attended.
With my time running out to go to games before I leave for college the odds of this list changing are pretty slim with only two games left this year. If the broncos clinch a playoff spot at home than maybe it will change but until then these games have a lifelong spot in my memory bank.
