My last summer as a high school student was by far the best summer. I experienced the best times with my friends and family from exploring Colorado, to going on random side quests. I grew so much as a person this summer, as well as learning new things about myself.
End of May
During the end of May, I finished all my finals for Junior year with semi-good grades. I was very happy to be out of school and ready to enjoy my summer. But that only lasted one day, I had to wake up at 4 am every morning to go to 5:30am practice for football. I had a set schedule most days of the week. Wake up at 4 am, go to practice at 5:30 am until 8:30 am, then go to work at 10 am until 4 pm. After work, if there was practice again then I would go to practice at 5:30 pm until 8 pm. If I didn’t have practice then I would stay at home or go hang out with friends.
June
The whole month of June, I spent every day at football. Either practice, 7v7, or activities. I was able to see the Broncos practice field because of a football event, and I was able to tour CU Boulder because of another football event. I also spent a lot of time with my close friends. We went on late night drives while listening to music, night swimming, and shopping. I enjoyed every moment I spent with my friends because I knew this was going to be the last summer like this.
July
I became a whole new person this month. From the adventures I experienced which changed my life. I spent more time with my family and grew stronger relationships with them. I spent every day at football as well, and spent every day with my friends. My friend group started going bowling, night swimming again, and ice cream trips. The memories I made with my friends, I would never forget. I started taking my senior pictures in July, which led to me driving into the mountains. I drove to Estes Park for my senior pictures and to have a personal day. I really enjoyed being in the mountains. I also drove to Idaho Springs to hike to St. Mary’s Glacier. That was an amazing new experience for me. I learned that I loved the mountains and I knew that I wanted to live there at some point in my life. After visiting the mountains a couple of times, I started looking for colleges in the mountains because I knew that’s where I wanted to be. July was full of new experiences that I am happy that I took.
Beginning August
Before school started, I spent as much time as I could with all my friends. We had many sleepovers and quality time together. I was ready for school to start but sad that it will be my last. To end the summer off, I went to the Adams County Fair with my friends and family. This was the best way to end my summer.
This was the best summer I had. I will never forget all the memories and friendships I made. This was my last summer as a kid and it was by far the most incredible one. Now next summer, I’ll be an adult and going to college.
