After months of waiting, Star Wars fans were finally blessed with Star Wars Andor. On September 21, 2022, the first three episodes of Andor started streaming on Disney+. Since then, several more episodes have also started streaming.

Andor is a Star Wars show following Cassian Andor and his journey to joining the Rebellion. The show takes place five years before the events of Rogue One. Cassian is first seen in the movie Rogue One which was released back in 2016.

Now, this article isn’t going to be like my typical articles that I write about the Star Wars shows. Although I will cover some of the things we see in this show I will mainly be focusing on my review of the show. However, before jumping into that there are a few things to discuss with the show.

The first thing is that it introduces completely new planets. In most of the Star Wars shows, they almost always take place on planets that fans are familiar with. And, if they don’t mainly take place on familiar planets they are almost always visited. However, with Andor that is not so much the case. We have a chance to be introduced to so many new planets.

Along with new planets there are also many new characters that we’ve never seen before. In fact, so far the only two familiar characters in the show are Cassian Andor and Mon Mothma. Mon Mothma is seen in the Original Trilogy, the Clone Wars TV Show, Deleted Scenes from Revenge of the Sith, and also in Rogue One. Fans are wondering how many more familiar characters we’ll get to see in the show. Many speculate that K-2S0 will be in it at some point considering in Rogue One, he and Cassian are best friends.

Now, moving on to my personal thoughts on the show. Not to be harsh but this is probably my least favorite Star Wars media that I’ve watched. It’s nothing against the show itself, it just isn’t my personal vibe. Before diving more into why I don’t like it as much, I would like to emphasize that this is just my personal opinion and it’s not that I hate the show, it’s just not for me.

My biggest turn off with the show was the use of actual swear words. Through all the movies and shows there is only one actual swear word said and it’s only said twice. Once in The Phantom Menace and once in The Clone Wars. Apart from that Star Wars has always been really good at being creative when it comes to swear words. They came up with their own such as Dank Farrik and Karabast. I know that to some people it’s not such a big deal and swear words have been used in the books, but for me it was a huge turn off.

Another thing that I don’t enjoy about it as much is the lack of familiarity. My favorite thing about Star Wars in the past has always been how it connects to each other. Whether that be through characters or places I enjoy seeing pieces fall together. A lot of people like how there isn’t the constant tie to everything else in the show, but for me, I don’t like that it doesn’t have that. Apart from Cassian, Mon Mothma and mentions of the Rebellion, nothing in the show ties to the larger picture of Star Wars.

My final thing is there are some things that contradict with Canon. In the background of the show there are a couple things that seem to tie to the Star Wars show Rebels. However, all the stuff that is shown is stuff that makes appearances later in Rebels. Five years before A New Hope is also when Rebels starts, so this stuff making appearances in the background of Andor doesn’t make sense. It hasn’t officially been confirmed that the stuff in the background is tied to Rebels but that’s what it looks like and what many fans speculate.

Anyway, if I were to give a rating to the show I would probably give it a 4/10. Now, just because I rated it so low doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t go and watch it yourself. Everyone can have their own opinions on it and like previously mentioned it isn’t a bad show it’s just not for me. Anyway, there are still several episodes that have yet to be released and so while we are waiting, may the force be with you!
