Adele Postpones Las Vegas Residency Show in a Tearful Apology Video

Adele’s Las Vegas Residency has been postponed. A Las Vegas Residency is usually an agreement between the artist and the casino on the strip to perform several shows a week for a period of time. This period of time could be anywhere from a few months to a permanent residency. She announced to her fans in 2021 that her residency would be held at Caesars palace. However, She told fans on instagram that the show wasn’t ready for the stage and that her team has been destroyed by delivery delays and Covid. Fans have been mad as she did it only 24 hours before her first show. Many fans flew out to see her perform, just to leave disappointed.

This would have been her first live concert and tour in five years. She was supposed to perform two shows every weekend until april. Tickets were ranging anywhere from $85 to $685, and she was expected to make almost $700,000 per performance.

Covid-19 has been improving throughout the world. But some artists still do not feel comfortable playing in big arenas as well as their crew. Delays have also been inevitable as there have been delays on literally everything from refrigeration to stage equipment. The world has been on a delay of production.

In a report done by TMZ, they found out it was also because Adele was displeased with the production and that there were many disputes. TMZ found that she was, “unhappy with various set pieces, the choir, the sound system, and other parts associated with the show.” She also thought her show wasn’t good enough for thousands of people to see on a nightly basis.

Caesars palace was shocked by the cancellation and couldn’t understand why she would do this at the last minute. To get a residency you have to be a bigger star and it takes even more planning. But for her to back out just 24 hours before the show started caused the hotel to be furious.

It must also be noted that there was no real clarity around what Adele wanted for the show due to the changes being made in production. She has always liked a more tame show as it’s usually just her and her backup singers on the stage with very little pizazz. However due to the Vegas residency she felt that she needed to come up with something more extravagant. Therefore she was constantly going back and forth on what she wanted the show to be.

In the video where she announced the postponement of her residency, she explained that, “Half my team, Half my crew are down with covid, they still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show.” She apologized profusely to her fans saying she was “gutted” and “sorry”. She has also spent a few days connecting with fans via facetime who had flown to Las Vegas to see her show. She also announced, “I’m sorry, it’s last minute. I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that’s traveled again.”

She finally added: “We’re going to reschedule all the dates, we’re on it right now. And I’m going to finish my show. I want to get it to where it’s supposed to be [but] we’ve been up against so much and it just ain’t ready.”

In the end, Adele’s cancellation has made many people angry, sad, and confused. Many fans have been sticking with her and many have been against her as they have lost thousands of dollars. As of now she is trying to reschedule the dates. However, they still don’t know when the new dates are going to be. Therefore now we just have to sit back and wait for new dates, as they should hopefully come soon.
