Spoiler Warning!

Another season of The Mandalorian has come to an end but despite it being the end a lot happened in the final two episodes. Fans have all said that they were left satisfied and despite all the reason shows that have been announced The Mandalorian Season 3 is one that people are most anxious about as fans want to know what is going to happen. So much was shown or mentioned in these final episodes though that many fans didn’t catch onto or simply didn’t understand.

The Believer

One of the big characters of this episode was Migs Mayfeld who first appeared in the Mandalorian season 1 episode 6. Last we saw of him Mando had locked him in a cell along with Burg and Xi’an. When he showed up in this episode he was working in a grim scrapyard doing hard labor but was interrupted when Cara came and asked for him. When she took him they went back to Boba’s ship, Slave one, and Mayfeld was shocked to see Boba and even more shocked to see Mando. They tell him they need help finding Moff Gideon’s ship and since he was ex Imperial he would be able to get them to a place where they could get this information.

They end up on the jungle planet Morak where they would go to an Imperial base being used to refine super-volatile rhydonium. Mayfeld says two of them would need to put armor on and they would need to be able to not be detected by the scanners. Cara Dune and Fennec Shank say they would be on imperial radars and Boba said, “Let’s just say they might recognize my face.” He is referring to the fact that he is a clone and the imperials know what these clones look like. Mando is forced to go and he removes his beskar but still has a helmet on therefore he wasn’t breaking his creed.

Later in the episode Mayfeld mentions something called Operation Cinder. Operation Cinder was a plan that was set in place by Palpatine in the event of his death. In fact this is used several times as a plot point in many novels that take place post Empire. Mayfeld reveals that he fought during Operation Cinder and after a long conversation with an imperial officer Mayfeld has a change of heart.

In this episode Mando did end up removing his helmet which broke his code but he was willing to do that for Grogu. Many people thought that this was because of the rumor that said Pedro Pascal, the actor that played Mando, wanted more face time. However it was recently said that Pedro was completely fine with wearing the helmet and that Mando removing his helmet had been in the script from the beginning. Pedro Pascal himself was confronted about the rumors in an interview and said, “That is not true, actually. It’s a really wonderful way of telling a story. It’s always been a very clear creed for the character. The collaborative process of the whole thing. We’ve all been on the same page with this. What I want is for them to make the best show possible, however they get that done.”

The Rescue

This is the grand finale of the season and left most fans shaken. The group goes and gets Bo-Katan and asks her to come help rescue Grogu. She agrees and goes with them if anything but to get the darksaber back. In this episode we also saw more of the Dark Troopers and all the character’s amazing fighting skills.

Mando fights Moff Gideon one on one and defeats him in combat. Because of this Mando got the title ‘Mand’alor’ which is what the ruler of Mandalore is called. Mando tried to give the darksaber to Bo-Katan but Gideon told him that he couldn’t do that because the darksaber can only be won through combat so Bo-Katan could not take it. What is the darksaber though? It has been seen in the show but they never went into depth about it. The Darksaber was the saber built by the first mandalorian Jedi, Tarre Vizsla. After Tarre passed the Mandalorians got the saber back and passed it to the rulers of Mandalore. During the clone wars Maul won the saber and by a Vizsla who was the current owner of the saber. During Star Wars Rebels Sabine Wren gained the Darksaber but then gave it to Bo-Katan.

Now the fact that Bo-Katan accepted the saber from Sabine but she refused to take it from Mando had many fans upset and confused. However there was a theory that was discussed and went around that made a lot of sense. Basically when Sabine gained the darksaber it was kind of “up for grabs” so to say and so it could go to anyone. That was probably why Sabine was able to give it to Bo-Katan. Although since Bo-Katan was now declared the official ruler of Mandalore it was officially hers so now it was back to having to be won through combat. Many fans did have to laugh because it is so Din Djarin of Mando to accidentally become the Mand’alor.

Moving to the biggest surprise of the episode just when the group of rescuers thought all hope was lost a single X-wing came out of hyperspace and then landed in the hangar. Grogu immediately perks up and one could assume it was a Jedi. But which one? The only jedi that would have kind of made sense were Luke Skywalker, Ezra Bridger, and Cal Kestis. Going back, the person leaves the X-wing and we see they are dressed in a black cloak. They then started destroying the Dark troopers with a green lightsaber, the green saber confirmed it wasn’t Cal since his saber is yellow. As the Jedi progressed you catch a glimpse of their hand and you see a black glove that looks a lot like something Luke would wear.

When the finally comes in he removes his hood and reveals that he is indeed Luke Skywalker. Luke was voiced by Mark Hamill but wasn’t played physically by him, they had to use CGI which some people complained about. Anyway, Mando asks if he is a Jedi and Luke says “yes”. Mando then realizes he has to say goodbye to Grogu and after a touching and emotional scene he says goodbye to his “son”.

A lot happened in this finale and it sets up stuff for season three. Pedro Pascal will be returning as Mando and we will get to see what Mando does now that he is the Mand’alor. Unfortunately we will have to wait over a year to see what happens next but at least we have seasons one and two to binge in the meantime. We are unsure what will happen next but until then sleep on the fact that the weight for season three will most likely be worth it. This is the way.
