At the end of the 2018-2019 school year, it was announced that Horizon would be receiving some new security measures, one of which was known as the security vestibule.

A vestibule is a secure chamber that is connected to a part of a building, leading into a lobby or hall. In the case of Horizon, our vestibule once fully constructed, will be the only way outside persons such as parents will be able to enter into the school.

Construction for the vestibule began at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, being placed directly in front of the main office.

Features, such as the bullet-resistant glass, security cameras, and locked doors keeps outsiders from accessing the building and adds an extra level of safety to those coming in and out of the school.

Principal Kim Brady says regarding the project, “I think that the addition of the vestibule makes everyone feel safer. We have a lot of visitors and we’ve done a lot with safety this year to protect the school. Along with what we already tell kids, there is now an extra layer of protection to make everyone feel safer.”
