Holiday Bops to Get You Through the Season

Joshua Smith, Culture and Relationships Team

During this time of the year, there is something that simply can’t be escaped – Christmas music! From classics like “Jingle Bells” by The Andrews Sisters and “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” by Bing Crosby to newschool hits such as “Drummer Boy” by Justin Bieber and “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, there is no way to avoid Christmas joy this season. However, if you are one of those Scrooges who needs a little extra help getting into the Christmas spirit, the following songs are sure to do the trick.

“Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande is an incredibly catchy song that is accompanied and assisted by Ariana Grande’s smooth, yet powerful vocals. Ariana Grande’s versatility is truly shown in this Christmas-themed hit and you can’t help but feel happy when listening to it.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey is a timeless tune. Even those who can’t stand Christmas music can’t help but, love this classic. It doesn’t matter if you are in the spirit of Christmas or not; you will be humming the lyrics all day long just from hearing it one time due to the intoxicatingly catchy hook and melody.

“Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber is yet another one of those songs that will get stuck in your head no matter what. Bieber delivers a refreshing, yet old school feel with this song; even the biggest haters of Bieber have to admit that it gets them jamming out and feeling festive once they hear it.

“Let It Snow” by Frank Sinatra is one of the best adaptations of a Christmas hit that you will ever hear; I guarantee it. Frank adds his own style to this Bing Crosby classic and even those who hate Christmas music with a passion will have their cold hearts melted by Sinatra’s iconic voice.

“Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt has such a mellow sound to it, you can’t help but feel chilled out. With such an enjoyable voice such as Eartha Kitt’s, it is hard to not love this song; so around this time of year, throw on this old school hit and enjoy.

There are many more of these amazing Christmas songs to choose from, but the ones spoken about above are just a few of the best ones that come to mind when I think about music around this time of the year. So the next time someone says, “I hate Christmas music,” show them this playlist and they may just experience a change of heart.
